Former Police Chief AIG Okoye Ikemefuna Passes Away

Former Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) Okoye Ikemefuna has passed away, the Nigeria Police Force announced on Friday. AIG Ikemefuna died peacefully on January 7, 2024, leaving behind a distinguished career in law enforcement.


The Inspector General of Police, IGP Olukayode Adeolu Egbetokun, expressed his condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of the late AIG in a statement released by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi.


AIG Ikemefuna began his service with the Nigeria Police Force as a Cadet ASP in 1984, rising through the ranks to hold key positions including Commissioner of Police (CP) for Ogun State from 2010 to 2014 and AIG Zone 11 Osogbo in 2015. He was known for his dedication to duty and commitment to law enforcement, leaving a lasting impact on the community.


The Inspector General of Police acknowledged AIG Ikemefuna's contributions and extended his deepest sympathies to those who knew and loved him. He prayed for solace and comfort during this difficult time.
