Widows of Fallen Heroes Empowered in Maiduguri by Hajiya Hadiza Mamman Vatsa Foundation

In a touching ceremony held at the Theatre Command Officers' Mess Maimalari Cantonment on January 16, 2024, the Hajiya Hadiza Mamman Vatsa Foundation brought smiles to the faces of 60 widows of fallen heroes in Maiduguri. This act of kindness was met with praise from the highest ranks of the military, with the Deputy Theatre Commander Maj Gen OM Bello commending the Foundation's initiative.

The event, held just after the Armed Forces Celebration and Remembrance Day, served as a poignant reminder of the sacrifices made by our fallen heroes. Ambassador Hadiza Mamman Vatsa, the Foundation's founder, emphasized the need for continued support for these families, stating that "the government can not do it alone."

Recognizing the immense hardships faced by widows, the Foundation provided each beneficiary with valuable tools for financial independence. Sewing machines, grinding machines, vulcanizing machines, and hair dryers were among the items presented, empowering these women to rebuild their lives and support their families.

The Foundation's commitment extends beyond financial aid. They recognize the physical sacrifices made by soldiers and presented wheelchairs, crutches, and tokens of appreciation to wounded soldiers at the 7 Division Medical Services and Hospital.

Dr Abubakar Jimoh, Chairman of the Foundation, highlighted their mission to "make a positive impact in the lives of families of the Nigerian Armed Forces and Paramilitary." He further announced plans to replicate this initiative across all 36 states and the FCT, ensuring no family is left behind.

This act of compassion by the Hajiya Hadiza Mamman Vatsa Foundation serves as a beacon of hope for widows of fallen heroes. Their dedication to empowering these families and alleviating their burdens is an inspiration to us all. As Ambassador Vatsa herself stated, "together, we can make a difference."
