Governor Oborevwori Leads Delta in Remembrance of Fallen Heroes

Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, led the state in a solemn ceremony today, January 15th, 2024 to remember and honour the brave men and women who lost their lives in service to Nigeria. The event, held at the Cenotaph on High Court Road in Asaba, marked the annual Armed Forces Remembrance Day and was attended by military personnel, government officials, and members of the public.

Governor Oborevwori laid a wreath at the base of the Unknown Soldier memorial, symbolizing the state's profound gratitude for the sacrifices made by those who have fallen in the line of duty. In a moving address, he emphasized the enduring legacy of the fallen heroes, stating: "As I stood in their solemn remembrance today, it was clear that their sacrifice and valor will forever be etched in the minds of Nigerians. May God continue to bless their dearly departed souls."

The ceremony included a parade by military personnel, a display of military equipment, and the rendition of patriotic songs and poems. The event served as a powerful reminder of the cost of freedom and the debt owed to those who have fought to preserve it.

Governor Oborevwori also used the occasion to call for unity and peace across the nation. He urged Nigerians to embrace the spirit of sacrifice and service exemplified by the fallen heroes, and to work together to build a brighter future for all.

"Let us honour their memory not just with words, but with our actions," he declared. "Let us strive to live up to the ideals they fought and died for - unity, peace, and progress. Let us work together to build a nation that is worthy of their sacrifice."
