Nigerian Air Force Takes Flight Against Terror, Vows to Honor Fallen Heroes with Every Strike

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) is ramping up its offensive against terrorists, insurgents, and other criminal elements nationwide, vowing to continue the fight in honor of fallen heroes. Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, made this declaration as the country gears up for its 2024 Armed Forces Remembrance Day.

Highlighting recent successes, the CAS pointed to airstrikes near Lake Chad on January 13th, where NAF operations under Operation Hadin Kai eliminated numerous terrorists and destroyed their hideouts. This follows a string of successful air missions across various joint theatres of operation since the year began.

Air Marshal Abubakar emphasized the importance of sustained efforts in keeping with the sacrifices of fallen soldiers. He stated, "The nation can never fully repay our fallen heroes, but we can honor their memory by ensuring their efforts were not in vain. We must restore peace and tranquillity to every corner of our country, returning it to the peaceful past they gave their lives for."

Recognizing the crucial role of the government, the CAS commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's support in providing the necessary resources for success. He emphasized the need for continued operation momentum, stating, "We must give our citizens the confidence to live freely. The President has empowered us, and we cannot fail to deliver."

Air Marshal Abubakar also urged Nigerians to stand in solidarity with the families of fallen heroes and offer unceasing prayers for their comfort and strength. He stressed that such support reinforces the nation's gratitude and reassures those currently serving that their sacrifices will never be forgotten.
